FORT BENNING, GA. — Every bride anticipates the day she walks down the aisle in a spectacular bridal gown on her wedding day. On June 13, this dream will come true for the military brides from the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Ga., when they trade in fatigues for their beautiful Alfred Angelo dresses.

Alfred Angelo and Operation Homefront-Georgia are proud to dress 20 brides from the 3rd Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division for a special group military wedding. The ceremony will take place at the Columbus Botanical Garden just outside the base.

“This ceremony will mark a memorable and happy occasion for all of the men and women deploying for duty overseas in Fall 2009 from the 3rd Infantry Division. This was something special that we wanted to do for the soldiers before the upcoming deployment. Most are not able to have a formal wedding or ceremony. These military brides are ecstatic and they look amazing in their Alfred Angelo gowns!” says Kim Scofi, chapter president of Operation Homefront-Georgia.

Alfred Angelo recently donated 386 wedding gowns made available to military service women and brides-to-be of military service men. In April, 70 brides selected free gowns from the collection.

“Partnering with Operation Homefront has been a wonderful experience for the company, and one we are looking forward to continuing in the future,” said Amanda Sheronas, director of PR and Events for Alfred Angelo. “We are proud that Alfred Angelo has been able to bring so much joy and happiness to the Fort Benning community in the face of a mass deployment. It’s a joy to give these brides and grooms that special day as a thank-you from Alfred Angelo for answering a call to duty.”

To date, 266 of the 386 gowns donated by the 75-year-old Alfred Angelo have been selected by service women and brides of service men for future ceremonies in Georgia, Florida, Texas, Maine and Oregon. The next donation is scheduled for Summer 2009.
